Travelogue : Pulau Langkawi, Malaysia

5:30 PM

We had a trip to Pulau Langkawi recently
(also celebrating our 7th year of being in love with each other)

I had already visited their main tourist attractions and revisit them all in 4 days

Day 1 : Arrival, Cenang Beach/Tengah Beach
KUL (Kuala Lumpur) - LGK (Pulau Langkawi) : Air Asia, RM 190/pax (return, with 15kg baggage)

We stayed at the Federal Villa Langkawi (operated by the Holiday Villa Beach Resort & Spa, Langkawi) because I was intrigue by the opportunity to book RPP.

P.s. this is my first time staying in RPP and I gotta say that it is extremely good! (but cannot compare to other RPP)

Holiday Villa lobby

RRP or Federal Villa, Deluxe Room, RM80

RPP = Rumah Peranginan Persekutuan

For RM 80 nett/night, we got a Deluxe Room so close to the Tengah Beach (1-min walk)

P.s. Eligibility for the room follows your professional grade (gred jawatan) & availability. Deluxe room published rate is RM 410/night without breakfast

We arrived and spent the evening with beach stroll and sunset watching

Sunset view from the beach

We had dinner and went to bed early

Tips : go for seafood everything! Seafood dishes, or at least Seafood Fried Rice

Day 2 : Panorama Langkawi SkyCab (Cable Car)
After our continental breakfast (only for RM 8.90 for a set of Main + coffee/tea + juice), we head to the beach for the view we rarely get in the City.

Beach in the morning

P.s. may also go for breakfast buffet, but I kinda on a healthier diet. Imagining I'd flock to the sausages, desserts, etc, I'd say no thanks

We rent a car (can also rent a motorbike and its so cheap!) for RM80/day and drove to the Panorama Langkawi SkyCab for their attractions : The SkyBridge

The SkyBridge

The cheapest ticket is RM 40/pax for the following :

SkyCab + SkyDome + SkyRex + 3D Art Langkawi = RM 40

I love my country, it is so cheap I ended up buying all photos/souvenirs they sell hahaha

From the Top Station, you will be required to pay the following to go to the SkyBridge :

1. RM 15/pax, for another elevator-like ride to the Sky Bridge
2. RM 5/pax, for a jungle trail to the Sky Bridge

While we are still young, not pregnant and wanted to burn some calories, we go for option #2.

The jungle trail

P.s. while Malaysia is hot & humid in general, up there it is cool and therefore, you wont sweat so much. The trail is short, but there are some large steps too!

On the SkyBridge..

We ended the SkyCab (cable car) ride with:

i. SkyDome360 degrees of 3D image projections in 10-minutes

ii. SkyTrek3D projection immerses passengers (on tram) in a simulated 3D environment

P.s. it is similar to the Transformer ride in the Universal Studios Singapore

iii. 3D Art Langkawi : 3D Art Museum (paintings, artwork on display)

Day 3 : Island Hopping & Dataran Lang (Eagle Square)

Island Hopping Tours price (in February 2017) = RM 35/pax
Island Hopping duration = 5 hours (9am to 2pm)

Island Tour here covers 3 islands : Pulau Beras Basah, Pulau Singa Besar (Eagle feeding) & Pulau Dayang Bunting (main attractions : Tasik Dayang Bunting / Lake of the Pregnant Maiden)

P.s. Again, RM35 (AUD 10 or USD 8) is fricking cheap! *cry*

Dont worry about the price : they are the standard price (if you got it in Cenang Beach or Kuah Town). If you stay in a hotel/motel, the hotel front desk will call the tour company to arrange it for you for free. It is so easy!

Malaysia is sooooo safe and peaceful for tourist, there will be NO people desperately calling you/selling tours along the sidewalk like I experienced in Bali & Phuket >.<

Pulau Beras Basah

In Pulau Beras Basah, we get to enjoy crystal clear water (i can still see my own feet when the water is at my knee level) and the attractions here is mainly the beach

Pulau Singa Besar

I remember the last time I went here in 2008 (the same Island hopping tour), they are so many eagles flocking to the food given (the boat driver will throw some sort of fresh meat/fat).

Eagle feeding session at Pulau Singa Besar

This time, its either they were full or what (bored with the routine?). Haha

Pulau Dayang Bunting

Tasik Dayang Bunting (Lake of the Pregnant Maiden) holds its legend where it is told (passed down) that whoever wished to conceive should take a dip/drink (water) from the lake. Its up to you to believe it or not.

The view resembles a lying pregnant lady

From the drop point/jetty, one must take steps (and local paid RM3 for an admission) towards the lake. Also, the trail is short but they I see so many local people seem to get difficulties with the steps (tired easily) so please note this if you're pregnant/unhealthy this might be difficult/challenging

After we took a dip in the lake! 😉

We reached back in the Hotel, changed clothes and had lunch before heading to the Dataran Lang/Langkawi Eagle Square because, its the Langkawi's signature man-made sculpture.

Langkawi got its name from Lang/Helang (means Eagle)

Day 4 : Shopping & Departure
The shopping actually started from Day 3 (night), where the Mall closes at 10pm.

Stroll around Cenang Beach

Cenang Mall

We went to the Coco Valley (next to the Zone in Cenang Beach) and here are the catch:
1. TEFAL Pot (Induction cooker)
2. TEFAL Fry Pan (Induction cooker)
3. PYREX bowls
4. TEFAL Kettle

P.s. All these new kitchenware/appliances are for our new home 💖 my mom gave me an induction cooker/hob so I NEED all the above

Coco Valley next to the Zon, Cenang Beach

I am extremely happy with the purchases and you might be wondering why didnt I buy Corelle -it is much much cheaper in Australia we are going there next month >.< so why would I buy them now?

On the Day 4, we finish it off with food shopping. The following are one's must-buy:

i. (Imported) Chocolates : Daim, Ferrero Rocher, Whittakers, Ritter's Sport and Hershey's Kisses are sooooo frigging cheap here!
ii. (Local) Minyak Gamat : Healing oil suitable for cuts
iii. (Local) Ikan Bilis Langkawi : Anchovies. Just, nyums! Whats Malaysian without anchovies?

Chocolates for RM50. I remember the last time I spent RM200. But now, Im on a healthier diet. These chocolates are for sharing among colleagues only

Hotel rating : 3.5/5 (0.5 for the cheap price I paid)

  2. Wow, great experience of yours in Malaysia trip. Really, it is one of the best destinations to go on a trip. Langkawi is a beautiful island in Malaysia famous for its sunsets, natural beauty, man-made attractions, and food. There you can stay comfortably in Ambong Pool Villas Langkawi - private pool, eat good food, rent a car/ Scooty and cover all the must-see places in mid-budget. Some week before I had gone for a trip to Langkawi, Malaysia and enjoyed my trip. Thanks for sharing.
